The Island
What Premuda is about
Nine kilometres of coastline, a single village and a sea that turns a different colour in every bay. Premuda is one of the last truly quiet islands in the Adriatic: no traffic, no high-rise hotels, no noise — just clear water, the scent of sage and olive, and time that suddenly slows right down. An island to stay on, not to tick off.
Diving & snorkelling
The Katedrala is one of the Adriatic's most celebrated cave dives — a bubble-shaped underwater dome where light falls through cracks like rays in a cathedral. Beginners are well catered for too: shallow reefs, clear water, octopus and mussels on the sandy floor.
Bays & beaches
Down by the harbour lie two beaches — the largest right beside the church, with plenty of room to spread out and an easy walk into the water. For more solitude, take a boat: along the coast one quiet bay follows the next, glassy water over bright sand and, on some days, no one but you.
Out and about by scooter
The house sits up on the hillside above the village — by scooter you're down at the harbour in minutes, or off on a leisurely island loop along the coast, past stone walls and olive groves to where the road meets the water. Three road-registered Honda 125cc scooters are available to hire.
Stand-up paddling & watersports
The Masarine rock formation is reachable by SUP or fins. Currents are weather-dependent — only experienced swimmers should cross alone. In calm conditions it's an unforgettable trip.
Simply being here
The sea against the rocks in the morning, drifting in the water at midday, cooking together in the evening as the sun sinks behind Silba. Premuda asks nothing of you — here it's not about what you do, but about finally having nothing you must do.

Premuda — from antiquity to today
A small island with a big history: Romans, Ottomans, a First World War sea battle and the long struggle against depopulation and forgetting.
